-Create a presentation, essay or brochure on how gender roles influenced the historical development of the fashion industry
-Chose a historical period and create a creative piece that describes the innovations associated with that time period to be presented to the class.
-Take on the perspective of someone from the 1900s to answer the question "What effects did the development of the sewing machine have on sewing?"
Fashion Influences
-Design their own outfit inspired by the trends influenced by CocoChanel using the main elements of her pieces but creating something new.
-Write an news article explaining the influence of the fashion indsutry of emerging fashion centers (LA, Toronto) and what factors account for their status as an emerging fashion center. Comment on if you think this trend will last, which chity can be the next fashion centre and why?

-Students can think-pair-share and compare ideas about which fashion era innovations are most influenctial in todays fashion indsutry. Create a web chart

-Together, create a college of haute couture and explain its influence on the fashion indsutry and what happens once styles have become more popular.
-Research a famous designer (Yves Saint Luarent, Vera Wang etc) and create a presentation, brochure or powerpoint about their contributionsto the fashion industry.
-Students can create a KWL chart on the importance of the fashion industry and key technological developments

-Students can have a class debate about “How did European demand for fur affect Aboriginal people’s relationship to the land and animals in colonial North America? One side argues it had positive affect, one side negative.
-Class can play a jeopardy game that looks at impact on the fashion indsutry of historical developments and social issues.

- Gather information to create a website about current and emerging fashion centers to be posted online or shared with media
-Entry and exit tickets about various fashion designers and their influecnes on the global fashion indsutry.

-Create a blog or presentation of different fashion innovations in the 1920s that contnue to influence fashion today. Compare with other students.
-Agree on 3 famous fashion designers and discuss and present why they are famous as well as which one is your favorite and why. Present to class- discuss with other groups.
